Method

  1. Wash the Basmati Rice and soak it in water for 30 minutes.
  2. In a large pot, heat oil over medium heat.
  3. Add Bay Leaf, Cloves, Cardamom Pods, and Cinnamon Stick and fry for a few seconds.
  4. Add thinly sliced Onion and slit Green Chilies, fry until the onions turn golden brown.
  5. Add Ginger Garlic Paste and fry for a minute.
  6. Add the soaked Basmati Rice and fry for 5 minutes.
  7. Add 3 cups of Water and Salt to taste.
  8. Bring the water to a boil, then reduce the heat to low and cover the pot with a lid.
  9. Cook the rice for about 15-20 minutes until all the water is absorbed and the rice is cooked through.
  10. Remove the pot from heat and let it stand covered for 5 minutes.
  11. Fluff the rice with a fork and serve hot.

  • You can add more or less Green Chilies depending on your spice tolerance.
