Method

  1. Wash the rice several times until the water runs clear.
  2. Soak the rice in water for about 15 minutes.
  3. Heat oil in a pot and add cumin seeds and mustard seeds.
  4. When the seeds start to splutter, add chopped onion, green chilies, and grated ginger.
  5. Sauté until the onions turn translucent.
  6. Add turmeric powder and salt and mix well.

  8. Add water and coconut milk and mix well.
  9. Bring the mixture to a boil and then reduce the heat to low.
  10. Close the lid and let the rice cook for about 15-20 minutes.
  11. Once the rice is cooked, turn off the heat and let it rest for a few minutes.
  12. Garnish with chopped coriander leaves and serve hot.

  • Ensure that the rice is soaked for at least 15 minutes to get fluffy rice.
  • The amount of water required may vary based on the type of rice used.
  • If the rice is not cooked properly, add a little bit of water and cook for a few more minutes.
