Ingredients

  • 1 tablespoon of cumin

  • 1 teaspoon of salt
  • 1 teaspoon of black pepper
  • 1 cup of vegetable oil
  • 2 cups of chicken broth
  • 20 banana leaves

Method

  1. Soak the banana leaves in warm water for 30 minutes.
  2. Sauté the pork in a large pot with vegetable oil until browned.

  4. Add the chicken broth and rice to the pot and bring to a boil.

  11. Place the tamales in a steamer basket and steam for 3-4 hours or until cooked.
  12. Remove the tamales from the steamer and let them cool for 10 minutes.
  13. Unwrap the banana leaves and serve the tamales hot.
