- 1 cup of rice
- 2 cups of water
- 1 cup of curd
- 1 onion, finely chopped

- 1 green chili, finely chopped

- 1 teaspoon cumin seeds
- 1 teaspoon urad dal
- 1 teaspoon chana dal
- 1 tablespoon oil
- Salt to taste
- A few curry leaves
- A pinch of asafoetida
Equipment:
- A pressure cooker
- A pan
- A spatula
Method:
- Wash the rice thoroughly and soak it in water for about 10 minutes.
- Heat oil in a pressure cooker and add mustard seeds, cumin seeds, urad dal, and chana dal.
- Once the seeds start to splutter, add curry leaves, green chili, and asafoetida.
- Add chopped onions and sauté until they turn translucent.
- Add chopped tomatoes and cook until they become soft and mushy.
- Add the soaked rice and sauté for a minute.
- Add 2 cups of water and salt to taste.
- Close the pressure cooker lid and cook for 2 whistles.
- Once the pressure is released, open the lid and let the rice cool for some time.
- Once the rice is cooled, add curd and mix well.
- Garnish with coriander leaves and serve.
Notes:
- You can adjust the spiciness according to your taste.
- Make sure the rice is cooled down before adding curd, else it will curdle.
- You can add grated carrots, cucumbers, and pomegranate seeds for extra crunch and flavor.
