Place a spoonful of the mixture onto the center of the banana leaf square. 8. Fold the banana leaf over the mixture, then fold the sides inwards to create a package. 9. Tie the package with string to secure it. 10. Repeat until all of the mixture is used up. 11. In a large pot, bring water to a boil and add the pasteles. 12. Cook the pasteles for around 1-2 hours, or until they are fully cooked. 13. Remove from the pot and serve hot.
