- 2 cups of glutinous rice
- 2 cups of water
- 1 can of coconut milk (400ml)
- 1 cup of sugar
- 1/2 teaspoon of salt
- 1 tablespoon of sesame seeds (optional)
- Fresh mango slices (optional)
Equipment
- A rice cooker
- A medium-sized pot
Method
- Wash the glutinous rice in cold water until the water runs clear.
- Soak the rice in water for at least 30 minutes.
- Drain the water from the rice and place it in a rice cooker.
- Add 2 cups of water to the rice cooker and cook the rice.
- While the rice is cooking, heat the coconut milk, sugar, and salt in a pot over medium heat.
- Stir the mixture until the sugar dissolves.
- When the rice is done cooking, pour the coconut milk mixture over the rice.
- Stir the rice and coconut milk mixture together until the rice is fully coated.
- Cover the pot with a lid and let it sit for 10-15 minutes to let the rice absorb the coconut milk.
- Serve the rice in bowls and top with sesame seeds and fresh mango slices (optional).
Notes
- Make sure to use glutinous rice for this recipe, as regular rice won't work.
- You can add more or less sugar depending on your taste preferences.
- If you don't have a rice cooker, you can cook the rice in a pot on the stove.
