- 1 lb white fish fillet
- 4 cups basmati rice
- 1 onion, chopped
- 2 garlic cloves, minced
- 1 tablespoon ginger paste
- 2 tomatoes, chopped
- 1 teaspoon cumin seeds
- 1 teaspoon coriander seeds
- 1 teaspoon turmeric powder
- 1 teaspoon red chili powder
- 1 teaspoon garam masala
- 1/2 cup vegetable oil
- Salt to taste

Method
- Wash the rice in cold water and soak it for 30 minutes.
- Heat the oil in a large pot over medium heat. Add the onions and sauté until they are translucent.
- Add the garlic, ginger paste, cumin seeds, coriander seeds, turmeric powder, and red chili powder. Sauté for 2-3 minutes.
- Add the chopped tomatoes and cook for another 2-3 minutes.
- Add the fish fillet and cook for 5-7 minutes until the fish is cooked through.
- Remove the fish from the pot and set aside.
- Add the soaked rice to the pot and stir well.
- Add 6 cups of water and salt to taste. Bring to a boil, then reduce the heat to low and cover the pot.
- Cook the rice for 15-20 minutes until it is tender and fluffy.
- Fluff the rice with a fork and add the garam masala.
- Place the fish fillet on top of the rice and cover the pot. Cook for another 5-10 minutes until the rice is fully cooked and the fish is heated through.
- Garnish with fresh cilantro and serve hot.
